What you should expect when you sign up for the Full 8a Application Completion Service
- We start by conducting a no-cost detailed pre-qualification telephone interview to ensure that there are no potential 8a Program eligibility issues that will prevent us from being able to prepare a successful 8a Application for your business or you from becoming 8a Certified. We do this pre-qualification interview to make sure there are no show stoppers that cannot be overcome. If we find any show stoppers, we identify them for you and what needs to be done to overcome it as fast you can so you can apply in the near future.
- Following the pre-qualification interview, assuming you meet all of the eligibility requirements, we send you our service agreement for your review.
- If you choose to have us assist with your 8a Application you receive, via email or access via our secure sever, a progress report that details exactly what specific documentation is needed from you and your business concern based upon your unique business circumstances. We also provide you with data collection worksheets, templates and samples that will assist you in providing or collecting some of the information requested by the SBA for your 8a Application.
- We review, prepare and complete your entire SBA 8a Application including the online and paper/ supporting document portions, including all required SBA forms, attachments and supporting enclosures. We also assist in preparing the 2 year waiver, if needed, and the required narrative statement of economic disadvantage and narrative statement of social disadvantage, if required.

- Keep in mind that each 8a Application is unique and document requirements vary for each 8a Application. Below is a typical list of items that will need to be included within your application:
1040 federal tax returns for the last three filing years for all applicants and anyone who
owns more than 10% interest in the business concern or is considered a key officer or
director.
Business federal tax returns for the last three filing years, or as many as you have been in
business, if less than three years
A balance sheet and income statement no older than 30 days for the current year to date
and for the last three fiscal years. If you need help preparing financial's, we can help.
A resume for each applicant and any other key officer or 10% or more owner.
Detail listing of and copies of current and past federal and non-federal contracts and
invoices within the last two completed fiscal years (A worksheet will be provided to assist
with this item)
At least 2-3 letters of reference from current and/or past clients (A template letter can be
provided)
A current certificate of good standing
Stock certificates/Stock ledger (Corp), Membership Certificates/ledger(LLC).
Articles of Incorporation/Organization/Partnership filing
Bylaws, Operating Agreement or Partnership Agreement
Meeting minutes. We will prepare a current set of minutes, if you have not prepared them.

- What happens if you don't have some of the items listed above?
- We have worksheets, samples and templates that assist in collecting and developing most of the information above, as part of our service. If you do not have a balance sheet or income for your business we can assist in the creation of these for you too.

- Why shouldn't you just complete the electronic application and send all the additional supporting documentation to the SBA yourself?
- 90% of all self-prepared 8a Applications are either rejected or returned by the SBA for program regulatory issues or missing information. This is a tough application and expert help is advised.
- Why? The SBA's 8a Electronic Application process is not 100% complete. It does not provide detailed instructions on how to answer most of the questions. If you answer a question that requires an "Explanation", the SBA does not provide any instructions or advice on how to explain properly or what supporting documentation must be provided to support your explanation. The SBA's checklist of supporting documents is missing required items that will be requested after you submit your 8(a) Application and will result in either them sending the entire application back to you or a delay in processing. Merely providing the supporting documents requested will not cut it. These documents must meet strict requirements by the SBA that they don't necessarily tell you about up front, unless you know all of the SBA regulations. Finally, the 8a application is filled with questions, if answered incorrectly, will immediately deny you from becoming 8a Certified. The current statistics show that the SBA receives upwards of 400 applications a month at its two processing offices (PA and CA) so your 8a Application must be properly prepared the first time or you may get stuck in an endless 8a Application review process that can take a year or more.

- Be cautious if any other consultant tells you that they can prepare the application in a few days, as this is sure to result in a denial or returned application. A typical 8a Certification Application is several hundred pages in length and can be more than 4 inches thick when submitted to the SBA. It takes time to properly compile, complete and review all of your documentation.

- How long does it take to receive notification of formal SBA 8a Certification?
- Once you submit your 8a Application to the SBA for review, you will receive an email within 2 business weeks that identifies your SBA reviewer. Your SBA reviewer, may at this time, request additional information to answer any additional questions they may have. This is a normal practice by the SBA. As part of our 8a Application Completion Service we prepare all formal responses to the SBA. Once the SBA has determined that your 8a Application is deemed complete, it will take approximately 90 days or less to be notified of formal 8a Certification by the SBA.
